At the entrance to the park. The road leading off to the left goes behind the school.

In the early 1950s there was no paved path at this point. The hill was perfect for sledding in the winter. With the proper run and flop on the sled, you could get all the way to the ball field - behind the tennis courts. There was only one tennis court at that time (on the left, next to the small bluff that was topped by Roanoke Drive).

In this bluff on the south side of the park, you can see where stones have been cemented in place to close the cave entrance that used to be open here. In my memory, the cave entrance was a narrow verticle crack. It was sealed after a child (or two) were lost in the cave and (I believe) - died.

There were several of these concrete picnic tables in the park. It seems like they were hard to sit in even back then - getting in and out was difficult.

This fireplace was in use during the 1950s I remember cooking hot dogs here. The park was very close to the school and I remember having picnics - at the end of the school year.
