The following information is taken from a poster produced by Kunming Teacher Training Institute which was my primary work unit while I was in China as a teacher between 1988 and 1991. We provide courses of English and Skimming Reading, English Pronunciation, English Listening and Speaking, Practical English Grammar, English Composition, English Translation, Introduction of Western Societies, English News Reading, Introduction of English Literature, English Typing, English Teaching Methods in High School, Computer Training, etc. By our overall and strict English Training, students from our school can handle English teaching in high school. This is a three-year program. There are 23 teachers in the department now, including 7 Associate Professors and 6 Instructors. We also have hired some American teachers on staff since 1984. The facility of the department includes pronunciation training lab and listening training lab. This program has provided our government qualified English teachers for 8 years.
