The Rotary InterDistrict Teacher Exchange between Argentina and the United States has come full circle. During February 1996, two Argentineans, whose participation was initiated by RI President Luis Giay, a fellow countryman, were hosted by Rotarians in two Texas cities -- Marta Rabellino in Abilene and Antonio Restano in Fort Worth. Rabellino taught Spanish to university students, police officers and telephone operators. Rabellino also visited elementary, middle and high schools and spoke to Spanish classes and met with faculty.
U.S. teachers visited and taught in Argentina during June 1996. William R. Eubank of Raytown, Missouri worked in Buenos Aires to establish an agreement with Argentine Rotary Clubs and the Federal Department of Education of Argentina for future teacher exchanges. Page Rooker of Irving, Texas taught English in Arrecifes.
The second year of the exchange began in February 1997 when two more teachers from Argentina came to teach Spanish in Kansas City, Missouri (Monica Nardelli) and Mustang, Oklahoma (Marķa del Carmen Di Paolo).
