The MidTESOL website is evolving. It was started in April 1997 as a “top down” communication tool for the posting of information about the organization. Standard material such as a vision statement, board member list, job postings, membership application, and several articles laid the foundation for the site.
In August 1998 the site moved up in importance with the securing of a registered domain name: www.midtesol.org which may be used by the organization into the foreseeable future. The 1998 Fall conference was heavily promoted on the site - and brought e-mail responses to Phyllis Mithen (then conference chair - president elect) and applications to the second vice president.
Since the conference, new features have been added to make the site an “interactive tool” to be used by the organization/members in the four state area. A Prezpage has been added that allows Phyllis Mithen to post information to the website directly from her computer on the campus at SLU. Similar pages for other board members may be set up upon request. Static pages have been added for each state representative to have material posted to on the request of the state rep, pages similar to the Prezpage may be set up allowing the rep to post “local news” directly to the site. SIG pages may be set up on the request of the SIG chair. Soon, there will be a section related to the newsletter for those important announcements that fall between publication dates.
Two new features are being demonstrated at this time - a Survey Form and a Test Form. These interactive forms may be customized for the use of the organization or by MidTESOL members doing research or class projects.
