Sergeant Vernon Ellis

Hello, my name is Tammy Mattics. I have been working on finding out more about my great-uncle's time in the Army Air Force.

I know that his name was Sergeant Vernon Ellis and that he served in the 404th Heavy Bomb Squadron in Alaska during World War II. His squadron picture is labeled:

421st AAF BU Sq D,
Capt. Charles Wallace,
Muroc Army Air Field.

I tried to find out information on the 421st but was unsuccessful.

Sergeant Vernon Ellis

In his pocket bible he wrote "AAF 404 Heavy Bomb Squadron APO 942 November 12, 1942. I have a picture of him standing in front of a plane with the name of "Iggy" painted on the plane. My dad seemed to remember that my uncle was in charge of the ground crew. His hometown was Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I realize that this is a long shot, but you never know unless you try. If you have any information that may help me please e-mail me at TaKerEnt@aol.com.

Thank you so very much for your time in this matter.
